Summer learning journey

Today we have been doing another summer learning journey. I liked that we got to draw.

 

 

How to do sprits

 

 For the last three to four weeks our class has been doing scripts. For my script, I did how to do sprits. First, we had to write down what we were doing and show the teacher. When the teacher said yes it's good I started recording. I got Kohen and Taj to help out. I got Kohen to help put it all together.

Managing Self

What would it look like you doing the correct thing it would look like you are extenied abstract helping out your friend problem solving

What would it sound like discussing your work with your friend 

Your talking to your friend and telling them what to do if they didn’t listen problem solving someone being kind

What would it feel like your would be proud and not worring that you are doing the wrong thing

We had to pick a topic out of relating to others, participating and contributing and managing self. We then had to make a DLO about what it would look, feel and sound like. Here is mine

Under the mountain setting

Here is a picture of the setting for Under the Mountain. Under the Mountain is set in Auckland centres around twins Theo and Rachel. 

Theo and Rachel are red heads who have a destiny to stop what is under the mountain. 

I liked the story because it was exciting and had lots of action. 

 

Camp

8th of September me and my class went to Bridge Valley camp for 3 nights and 4 days the first day we did orienteering for that we had to get a map and look for numbers around the campsite and we had an adult in each group and they had an answer sheet but they can tell us the answers and there were four groups. 

The second activity of the day was team rescue. This was when you had to walk through the obstacle course with planks holding a guy with a stretcher. This took a while. There was heaps of gaps and we had to use the planks and weight them down and walk across them. If you fell off you got a point and the team with the most points lost. Everyone in our group fell off at least once. After that we got free time. For free time we went on a zip line flying fox thing and a massive playground. There was also an obstacle course over by the archery place. 

That night after dinner we played spotlight. 

Day 2

We started the day with the Burma trail. There was a big rope and we had to go through the bush on the hill and follow the track while we were blindfolded. I fell over a few times. I was the first one to get to the finish. We then did laser tag. For laser tag, there was a big area with tyres and a broken-down car. Our team got split into two teams of 5. I was in the blue team. For the first two rounds, we had to shoot a box and whoever shot it and help it for the longest one. For the third one, there was also a perk box. Our team won all the rounds. It was very exhausting. The guns were very cool. we also went on a water slide into the lake

Next, we did low ropes where we had to go across a swing bridge thing and keep our balance. I ran across it without holding the rope. After that, we had to walk along a triangle-shaped rope while holding on to two ropes. Then we had to balance on a rope while holding a rope and walk around the whole triangle. I don't think anyone did that. After that, there was a rope we had to balance on our head and then there was a monkey thing. Then there was the chicken walk thing and then walk along two ropes that got closer and closer together. 

Then we did team initiatives. There was an area with police tape around it. There were 9 people holding the ship rope and there was one person dangling off it trying to get items out of the area. We then had free time again. 

Day 3

my team did fire and damper where we had to cook stuff on a fire and most of them got burnt but I cooked mine really slow so it didn't get burnt after that we did abseiling is really cool because there was this big tower we had to climb up through and it was like a maze it was really cool going down it as well then we did kayaking it was really fun and I flipped everyone apart from my friends and everyone got soaked then the last activity of the day was Archery the bows were really hard to shoot because they were massive I didn't get a Bullseye but a few other kids did

Day 4

we didn't do much that day because we were leaving but we did a game about Team work or something though then we had lunch and left

Under the Mountain

 

As a class activity we have to read this books. I had to guess what happens in the book before reading it. 

Volts and Current

 In class we have been exploring volts and current. 

In my group I sat there sulking. Here are Clara's results

Goosebumps- Horrorland, Little Shop of Hamsters.

Sam and Lexi went to Horrorland and they were feeling hungry so they went into this restaurant. They asked for a burger and the man put snot and earthworms in their food. Sam bought a grow your own pet which turns into a real pet and Lexi bought a phone candy dispenser.

Later on in the story, Sam asked his parents if he can get a pet because the grow your own pet thing. They said he had to prove that he was responsible so he got a job at the little shop of hamsters pet store. One day he crawlled into the cage and dropped Lexi's phone candy dispenser. The next day he went back and the hamsters had ate the candy and turned feral. He brought one of the feral hamsters back to his house. While they were eating tea the hamster started making weird noises and growing. It crawled onto the table and snapped the table with its weight.

I think people should read this book because it is interesting and it will be cool to be in that situation yourself.

For literacy we wrote a poem about things in our childhood. It had to rhyme and have two sentences per line. I liked writing this because I got to think about all the things I like. 

Matariki Quiz

I had to do a quiz about Maori New Year (Matariki)

1. It would take 2.8 million years to drive to the cluster. Which is 4 billion kms away.
2. Matariki is a star cluster
3. They celebrate matariki by celebrating, eating and remembering their ancestors.
